"Sci-Fi Test Lab"
DreamworksTV / YouTube
Conceived, engineered, and built in less than two weeks, this project was a smash-hit for the YouTube channel "Jurrassic World Kids." Dreamworks TV asked us to design and build four animatronic machines to simulate the dustructive power of T-Rex jaws, a Stegosaurus tail (also known as a thagomizer), the Velociraptor claw, and the headbutt of a Stygimoloch. To save time during production as well as fabrication cost, we designed these as interchangeable modular components, all built around a single 3,000 lb pnuematic ram system. The system allowed us to switch between dinosaurs in a matter of minutes, allowing the entire series of four videos to be shot in only two days.
